What to Expect at Your New Patient Examination

Whether this is your first chiropractic adjustment or you’ve seen a chiropractor before, here’s what to expect at your first visit.

Your first visit is a $100 New Patient Examination. It includes paperwork, a consultation, an exam, and an adjustment during the same appointment. Please plan for 45 minutes to one hour.

No referral is required. Care is cash-pay, and we do not bill insurance. If you’d like to file a claim yourself, we can provide an itemized receipt.

Your Consultation, Exam, and Adjustment

When you arrive, you’ll complete a short health history. Then you’ll sit down for a consultation.

We’ll review your history, talk through your symptoms, and examine how you move. This may include posture, range of motion, and a hands-on exam.

Before treatment begins, we’ll answer your questions and explain what we recommend. After the consultation and exam, your visit includes an adjustment.

You’ll be adjusted on a treatment table. Part of your adjustment may be performed while you’re lying face down, while other work may be done on your side, seated, or lying on your back. Positioning depends on your exam and what your body needs.

Additional services, if recommended, will be discussed with you first. They are not included in the $100 New Patient Examination.

What Is the Popping Noise During an Adjustment?

The sound some people hear during an adjustment is not bones cracking. Joints can release small pockets of gas in the surrounding fluid, which may create a pop or click.

That sound is not a sign of injury, and it is not required for an adjustment to be effective. Some adjustments are quiet. The goal is improved joint motion, not a sound.

Is Chiropractic Care Safe?

Chiropractic care is hands-on, non-invasive, and does not involve prescription drugs or surgery.

Your New Patient Examination starts with a consultation and exam so we can determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate for you. If it is not, we will refer you to the right provider.

Prime 30A is not an emergency clinic. If you are experiencing chest pain, trouble breathing, fainting, a sudden worst-headache-of-your-life, new weakness or trouble speaking after a hit, loss of bowel or bladder control, numbness in the saddle area, fever with spinal pain, a serious accident, or unexplained weight loss with night pain, seek emergency care first.

Does Chiropractic Care Hurt?

Many patients describe an adjustment as pressure, not pain. The force is controlled and matched to the joint and to you.

If a position is uncomfortable, let us know. You remain in control throughout the visit.

Will I Be Sore After an Adjustment?

Some patients feel more mobile right away. Others notice mild soreness later that day or the next, similar to how you might feel after starting a new exercise program.

If soreness does not settle, call the office.

How Long Will My Visit Take?

Please allow 45 minutes to one hour for your New Patient Examination. That window includes paperwork, consultation, exam, and an adjustment.

Follow-up visits are typically shorter. Please allow a full hour before closing so your visit is not rushed.

How Often Will I Need to Return?

Visit frequency depends on your history, symptoms, and how your body responds.

Some patients begin with a few closer visits and then space them out. Others come in when something flares up. You’ll leave your New Patient Examination with a recommendation.

Booking one visit does not commit you to a care plan.

Pricing

Established patient visits are $75.

Membership options include:

  • Individual: $125/month for 2 visits
  • Individual: $200/month for 4 visits
  • Couple: $300/month with 4 visits each
  • Family: $400/month with 4 visits each

There is no annual contract, no cancellation notice, and no cancellation fee.

What Should I Wear?

Wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing, such as athletic wear, loose pants, leggings, or a comfortable shirt.

Clothes you can sit, stand, bend, and lie down in make it easier to assess posture, range of motion, and how you move.

Should I Bring Imaging or Reports?

Please bring any imaging or reports you already have.

If imaging is indicated based on your history or exam, we will provide a referral.
